Exhibit Schedule
Housed in the restored 1913 Delray Elementary building, the Cornell Museum was dedicated in 1990 as the visual arts center and named in honor of Delray residents Harriet W. and George D. Cornell. Restored very close to its original appearance, the museum provides a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Visitors are met with the historic beauty and charm of the building as they enter the two-story atrium, which also serves as gallery space. The first floor houses three exhibition galleries and a small gift shop. The Angelique Tea Room, also on the first floor, provides an intimate space for exhibit receptions and special events. The second floor houses three exhibition galleries and an interactive children’s gallery. The Delray Beach Historical Society’s Archives are also on the second floor. The museum features regional, national and international exhibits of fine art, craft and American culture, which rotate every six to eight weeks. The museum also organizes an annual, All-Florida, fine art competition featuring multi-media paintings, sculpture and photography. Artist showcases, demonstrations and unique activities are also offered throughout the year.
The Cornell Museum of Art & History is located to the south of the Crest Theatre building, and is connected to the Crest Theatre building’s Ocean Breeze Room and portico by a covered loggia.
